Nashville '49 in Trans white

What's the selector switch do?  Looks like there is only one pickup on there....

The setup is with 1 position being complete bypass just straight pickup, 2nd position is a muddier rhythm sound, 3rd position is straight pickup, but with use of the master tone control. The Nashville '49 also has an extra pickguard in the case with a neck pickup.

I seem to be behind and I hope you allow silly or stupid questions. I am confused about the body wood and its because I've heard pine and also heard ash.  I know this is a special run and thought all were built with pine, so aside from a single pickup, the pine is the only difference from the standard Nashville.  I was looking for "official" specs on it but did not run across it.

The body is Ponderosa Pine, we wanted to use the original species of wood that was used in the 1949 that was built by Fender....One pickup in the bridge, but in the case there is another pickguard loaded with a neck pickup in case you want one.....different control layout featuring the 3 way slider switch instead of the 3 way toggle.

The original one pickup Esquires had a selector switch also. That is one beautiful guitar.
